Happy Thanksgiving to all. Everyone please have the Happiest and most Joyous of Holiday Seasons.
Monday evening, November 24th. 2003
Darryl looked up as I entered and was taken back as he exclaimed: ‘Hey, stranger, it’s been awhile’. Jeremy was dancing with all the girls. It looked as though Bear was literally, dancing all around the girls. Shocka was just letting him vent. He’s constantly venting. Especially when he would rather be somewhere else. I sat down next to Darryl behind the front counter, apparently Tricia was visiting the doctor and nobody was around to monitor the front desk. Darryl was busy checking out “new songs” on iTunes. I remember doing stuff like that with Elena on Kazaa. One of the moms walked in and came up to the counter to pay for her daughters dance classes. Darryl explained that the office person who’s usually here was out and he doesn’t know anything about what the costs are. I started talking to the mom and she started telling us what was up. Darryl said that maybe there was something he can help answer for her. He got up walked around to the other side of the counter to speak with her. Another mom walked in, she too wanted to pay for her daughters dance classes. I offered to help her, I asked if she knew what the amount was that she needed to pay, she didn’t, she told she would come back the next day. Darryl turned around and told the mom, ‘don’t ask him , he doesn’t know anything’. I look up and responded; ‘Hey what do you mean I don’t know anything’, we all laughed. I like working the front desk, its fun. I’ve got to tell you what Jeremy said to me a couple of weeks ago. Jeremy; Hey Dad, you know, sometimes I like dancing". Dad; You do? Why?? Jeremy;They got some really cool moves like Elena does". Dad; Oh right, that is cool. Jeremy;Hey Dad, you know, I’m the only boy in my class. Nineteen kids in the class, I’m the only boy. I bet I could get like 5 dates with some girls; can we go to the movies? I told Jeremy, if he could get 5 dates from his dance class, I’d take the whole class to the movies. He laughed out loud; he thought that was so funny. He wanted to go and get the 5 dates right away so he could take the whole class to see a movie. Which movie did he want to see, “The Cat in the Hat”. Elena is very busy with her high school activities and commitments, which is making it very difficult for her to attend Retter’s dance. Hopefully Jeremy will find his passion for dance and continue for a few more years like his sister Elena.
Again, I just wanted to say hello this thanksgiving weekend and wish everyone the best.

YO RAD.............Wasssssssuuuupppppp !!!!! Concert of Love 2003........Yes I Believe !! WOW !! Another great show of talent from the stream of Retter's. I was talking with Darryl the other day when I was picking Elena up from class, I told him how much we all liked the Concert. Darryl asked: “Which show did you attend”? I told him Friday, Saturday and Sunday. His response: “You poor thing”. Not really, I said, the kids love it. They love seeing all their friends and buddies. New groups of people show-up on different days. I must share what I noticed the other day while watching Darryl’ tap class, Elena’s in. While I know how much fun it is for family members to watch our kids dance on stage as well as the studio, when you guys are in the studio dancing, ya’ll are watching yourselves in the mirror. I don’t mean just watching, you dancers are ‘really looking’ at yourselves. I was smiling while watching, thinking, Whoa! Every dancer is so taken with themselves while dancing in front of that mirror. (It reminded me of Elena’s mom, Sandi. Whose best friend is ‘the mirror’, she just cannot pass a mirror without stopping to say hello). The faces of the dancers and the way they watched themselves in that reflective pond of glass. I think you guys have more fun dancing with each other in the studio, looking at yourselves in the mirror, than you do while dancing on stage. Even with all the cheering and whistling and the ever present applause. That energy and fun ya’ll have with each other really shines in the studio. Retter’s really does define what a ‘family’ truly is. Our love and prayers to all he ‘Family’ members of Mr. Al Gilbert. Elena, you are still the sweetest and nicest daughter a father could ask for. Thank you all for a terrific and wonderful experience.

Hey retters! i have been going to retters for about 7 years and i just wanted to say i love it here! I take 10/12 hip-hop wiith Courtney and Jazz 2 with courtney . I will never leave retters as long as i dance!!!!!!i love the whole staff and i will se my fellow dancer every saturday until the classes end!
